Set during a tumultuous period, the game follows Atsu as she embraces the path of the Ghost to hunt down her targets. While built upon the foundations of its predecessors, Yotei immediately distinguishes itself by prioritizing refined gameplay flow and anti-fatigue design over overwhelming map density, setting it up as a truly modern open-world experience.

Split Fiction is an exclusively two-player experience defined by its literal split screen. One player navigates a high-fantasy setting of elves, dragons, and ancient ruins. The other exists in a neon-drenched, chrome-plated sci-fi world full of robots and laser grids. The brilliance lies in how these two separate realities constantly overlap, making it arguably one of the most creative level and game mechanic designs for a co-op game, or any video game, ever.

The stars finally lined up, and I was able to play Cyberpunk 2077 almost five years after its release. Honestly, I didn’t even know what to expect. My hype and expectations for the game have been on a rollercoaster these past few years, but I can honestly say the experience of playing it for the first time in 2025 was still beyond what I expected, given its history.

Middle-earth: Shadow of War is a triumphant action RPG built on a foundation of compelling systems. The game's addictive Nemesis, Follower, and Fortress systems create a cycle of conquest and personal narrative that makes every encounter feel unique. The fluid free-flow combat and deep progression mechanics combine for a deeply rewarding experience.

Disco Elysium is a masterclass in storytelling and role-playing, combining deep, witty dialogue with a haunting atmosphere and innovative mechanics that redefine what RPGs can be.

The Alters surprised me as one of the most compelling strategy/survival games this year. At first glance, it reminded me of Fallout Shelter or XCOM, but it quickly reveals deeper, thought-provoking themes wrapped inside an addictive base-building experience.

Once Human is an upcoming fascinating amalgamation of multiple video game themes; Death Stranding, Control, and Alan Wake, blending post-apocalyptic and sci-fi elements into a genre that I somewhat found surprising and out-of-place, ---- an open-world sandbox. The game's ambitious promises have not been met, leading to widespread disappointment among players.

Star Survivor, initially released in Early Access on PC earlier this year, has now made its way to mobile phones this December. The game is a top-down space shooter and seems to be a mash up of multiple genres. It features a Space Shooter premise, Vampire Survivor gameplay, Deck building mechanics, and Rogue-lite progression that all results into a unique experience that has translated well into mobile.

The Division has always been described by me and my peers as 'Diablo with guns,' and this description holds true. It's a looter shooter with Action RPG elements, which can be quite addicting. However, I have always struggled to reconcile the concept of its realistic, grounded setting with its RPG mechanics. Suspension of disbelief is one thing, but seeing a Diablo-like game in a shooter's skin felt odd to me. Ordinary individuals with guns in our real world, yet they need to find legendary firearms to defeat bullet sponge enemies that are also supposed to be humans. Despite this, The Division's system works exceptionally well once you immerse yourself in gameplay.

As far as mobile games go, it may remind you of games like LifeAfter and Last Day on Earth: Survival.

I never was a big Super Mario fan, but I did play a lot of it during my NES and SNES childhood days. When I first saw the game reveal of Unrecord four months ago, I was immediately wowed by its ultra-realistic graphics that use body cam-style first-person perspective, blending seamlessly with photorealistic visuals and animations resulting in terrifyingly lifelike visuals. However, this is not Unrecord, but a mobile game titled REC.O.R.D. It's pretty darn close though, even the similar names speaks for themselves.

Polygon Arena: Online Shooter is a low-poly mobile shooter that's easy to pick up, and designed for casual play with room for some competitiveness. It pits players of up to 8 vs 8 across various Arenas (currently four as of the Open Beta Test). The game is still in heavy development but an Open Beta Test is currently underway for everyone to try.

Forza Motorsport is the thirteenth installment in the renowned Forza racing video game series. It is a soft reboot of sorts with high expectations and a storied history to uphold, this racing simulation game has faced the challenge of redefining the series for a new generation.

Forza Motorsport (2023), developed by Turn 10 Studios and published by Xbox Game Studios, was released on October 10, 2023. Unlike its predecessors, it ditches the numerical sequencing, opting for a fresh approach to the series. The game was launched recently on PC and Xbox. It doesn't focus on an open-world arcade gameplay like its sibling Forza Horizon; instead, it immerses players in the world of motorsport, where the cars, tracks, and competition are the stars. It emphasizes the thrill of racing and the journey to become a top-tier racer.

The story is now much shorted this time, around just 1/4 of the length of the previous game.

Two allied factions, Neoterrans and Wokens, are at war against a mysterious alien civilization. Your character is one of the few powerful fighters remaining after a mysterious defeat at the hands of the enemy's leader.

✨Overview Metal Mind is a pixel rogue-lite stick shooter where players take on the role of a mech that can change its parts and gear on the fly. The game was originally released on PC (Steam) last year for an upfront cost of $18, but I had the privilege of trying out a pre-release build of the Android version, and I must say, it transitions quite seamlessly to the mobile platform, if not even better suited for it.

If you have played twin-stick shooters and retro pixel-style rogue-lites, then Metal Mind should feel familiar you, The gameplay mechanics of Metal Mind follow a classic twin-stick shooter formula, but with a twist. It’s actually a “single-stick” shooter because aiming is already done automatically. You just have to fire the weapon, or activate abilities.

I was fortunate enough to be able to try out the Android demo for the upcoming Concerto on White, and I was pleasantly impressed by its blend of rhythm-based gaming, musical simulation, and visual novel style storytelling.

Concerto on White consists of two main ideas blended into one harmonious composition. The school academy life, and actual rhythm game gameplay. The school academy life is where you can attend classes, interact with your schoolmates, and practice music, all presented in a chapter-style visual novel storytelling.

Lies of P Ever since Dark Souls' success in 2011, there has been no shortage of these so-called Souls-like games. And now, we have another game with Lies of P, and it's one of the most promising entries yet in the Souls-like genre.

The game plunges players into the city of Krat, a place powered by the mysterious mineral Ergo but now plagued by a frenzy that has turned its puppet inhabitants against humanity. Recently announced a few days ago with a trailer and mini-game (more info further down below) to go along with it, the game is set to be released for PC and PlayStation, offering a multiplayer cooperative puzzle adventure experience.

The City of Aeterna, dubbed as “The Lost City” is now returning as part of Torchlight Infinite’s latest content update.

The resurgence of split-screen cooperative games, spearheaded by the 2021 Game Awards GOTY winner, It Takes Two, marks a heartwarming return to the roots of shared gaming experiences. Nowadays, even blockbuster hits such as Baldur's Gate 3 even has split-screen coop. Whether that journey has been for better or worse, well, I'd let my review speak for itself.

eFootball 2024 is the latest yearly iteration of the eFootball series, which was previously known as Pro Evolution Soccer (PES), released for mobile devices, PC, and consoles. The base game is free-to-play, but eFootball 2024 generates revenue through microtransactions. Players have the option to spend real money within the game to purchase various in-game items and content.

SYNCED is a looter shooter with a gameplay that revolves around players venturing into the semi-open world to clear out increasingly challenging segments that are infested with nano creatures. These missions culminate in intense boss fights that require teamwork, strategy, and coordination when in team-based mode, but the game is also viable when played Solo, such is my experience for the majority of my PvE playthrough.

It takes a lot of inspirations from other genres too, mixing rogue-lite elements, battle royale mechanics, and even Pokemon style of capturing and commanding powerful Nano creatures. SYNCED is set to release on September 8 for PC, Xbox, and Playstation systems.

Torchlight Infinite is the latest installment in the beloved Torchlight ARPG franchise, offering fast-paced battles and cross progression across platforms. Players explore a fantasy world, collect endless loot, and customize heroes with unique skills and legendary gear. In addition, it features fine graphics and smooth performance, making it one of the better ARPG options on mobile today.

The latest collaboration between Goddess of Victory: Nikke and Nier: Automata is now live! Both Goddess of Victory: Nikke (or Nikke for short) and Nier: Automata have not been short of collaboration events with other franchises, such as Chainsaw Man with Nikke, or Nier: Automata with even more ridiculous crossovers like Rainbow Six: Siege, PUBG, and Fall Guys. However, both games might have found a match made in heaven with what might be the most sensical crossover yet, featuring very similar themes: sexy girls fighting aliens and robots.

Developed by Shift Up, Goddess of Victory: Nikke, or Nikke is a free-to-play sci-fi shooter that has garnered attention for its action-packed gameplay and, well, it's rather unique exaggerated physics. The game features a cast of buxom waifu characters, each armed to the teeth and ready for action. While the gameplay itself is no joke, what really sets Nikke apart is its over the shoulder and cover action, and playful approach to character movement, where the recoil from shooting causes certain assets to, shall we say, exhibit quite noticeable jiggle. It's unapologetically over-the-top, and players have embraced it for its fan service fun.

lyndonguitar Download From the highly popular Rainbow Six franchise, Rainbow Six Mobile is a free-to-play competitive, multiplayer first-person shooter experience tailor made for mobile phones, which has now been soft launched in a limited capacity. It is now available in Canada for both iOS and Android, while the Soft Launch for other countries will go live starting with Mexico on September 4, with more coming next month.

Rainbow Six Mobile features the same PvP FPS experience that started with Rainbow Six Siege back in 2015, which has continuously been updated throughout the years with new content, operators, and changes.

Wayfinder was recently released in paid early access form last August 18, debuting amidst a host of server problems that garnered an initial overwhelmingly negative reaction. More recently, servers have been patched up and the queues have gone from literal hours to just a minute or less. More than a week after its release, I was finally able to personally experience the game and see firsthand what all the fuss is about.

DanMachi BATTLE CHRONICLE is a gacha-based ARPG set in the enchanting world of Orario from the "Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls In A Dungeon?" anime. Players take on the role Bell Cranel and his waifu friends, an ambitious adventurer as he grows from novice to formidable warrior, fueled by his connection to the goddess Hestia. The game's visuals is a faithful reflection of the anime's aesthetics, bringing characters and environments to video game form.

DanMachi BATTLE CHRONICLE is a gacha-based Action Role-Playing Game (ARPG) inspired by the popular anime series "Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?" also known as "DanMachi" (from its original Japanese title DANjon ni Deai o Motomeru no waMACHIgatteiru Darō ka). In this game, players immerse themselves in the fantasy world of Orario, where mythological gods, mighty adventurers, and powerful monsters coexist. The game draws heavily from the anime's universe, featuring characters and elements from the series.

The gameplay mechanics in Bibots follow a classic twin-stick shooter formula: character movement is controlled using the left stick, while aiming and shooting are executed with the right stick. A well-timed dodge mechanic proves crucial for evading enemy projectiles, and the inclusion of obtainable secondary attacks, like grenades or flying discs, adds tactical depth.

The central gameplay of BRIXITY is about constructing structures and building entire cities in top-down view with the help of the amazing technology called BRIX, and then exploring the world and visiting other players in a third-person view. BRIX (as in “bricks”, essentially the building blocks that players can use to create buildings) allows players to create spectacular builds as they wish.

Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective has been revitalized with completely HD graphics and flawless animations, breathing new life into its charming world. The game is set to be released on June 30, 2023, but there is a demo on Steam already available for players to try. I was able to play the demo version that allows players to experience the story up to Chapter 2. Notably, any saved data from the demo can be seamlessly transferred to the full version of the game once players purchase it.

Metria is an action RPG currently in development for mobile devices. It is currently conducting an Alpha test from June 13, 2023, to June 20, 2023 and players are free to test out this title. Since this is an Alpha test, expect this to be in a very early state, and not even close to playable and enjoyable.

Street Fighter 6 has come a long way. It features a 18-character roster of both new and returning fighters rendered in new Full 3D art style that looks much closer now to contemporaries like Tekken, than the classic 2D or artistic visuals of Street Fighter, however, the spirit of Street Fighter is still felt here. The eponymous Somnolent is a world called the dreamcatcher where the game is also set. It is a place where good dreams pass through, while bad dreams get stuck. In layman's terms, Somnolent functions as a filter. This requires the dreamwalkers — warriors summoned to defend dreams — to constantly purge Somnolent of the bad dreams that get trapped in the lands and the nightmarish monsters spawned by them.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is an action-adventure game and the much awaited sequel to 2017’s award-winning game The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, boasting the same core gameplay mechanics including open world exploration and a non-linear story.

Flash Party is a platformer fighting game developed by XD and is released free-to-play for both Android and PC platforms, featuring a gameplay inspired by Super Smash Bros., with its own original characters and live-service element.

Brotato is a survival roguelite wave shooter playable with one hand. Originally released for PCs as an early access, it has now been recently released on Android and iOS as a full title, after going into an open beta just recently. This mobile release brings the game closer to feature parity with the existing PC version.

Persona 5: The Phantom X is a role-playing game with turn-based combat, slice of life elements, and an anime-inspired art style. A mobile spin-off of the mainline game Persona 5, it takes us back to Japan and reintroduces us to the Phantom Thieves with a brand new protagonist and fresh roster of characters. It is catered more to the mobile platform market — a first in the series, and is now currently in beta (Android) available for China. A PC version is also available for testing, it is a full-on game client and not an emulated Android version.

One handed gameplay, increasingly difficult waves of enemies. Six weapons all at once, all attacking simultaneously. That’s the basic gist of Brotato. For those familiar with the game Vampire Survivors, Brotato is essentially a welcome clone.

What if the idea of a city building game is turned on its head? Whereas the main objective of the game is not to build a huge bustling city, but instead to build a natural living world without any trace of technology or artificiality? Terra Nil is exactly that game for a change. A strategy game where players construct and deconstruct terraforming structures with the ultimate goal of restoring the land.

I tried out Flash Party recently, coinciding with the recent update Season 9 and I got to say, after going in blind in playing it, the graphics and gameplay actually wowed me. I am using an old 2018 flagship android phone to play it and the visuals still look crisp and nice with console levels of quality that even looks better than the Switch’s own Super Smash Bros.

After Resident Evil 2 and 3 were remade, the next logical target (aside from Code Veronica) was a Resident Evil 4 remake. I was one of the naysayers back then saying that Resident Evil 4, with its still decent 3D graphics, doesn’t need a remake yet. Boy I was wrong. This first impression is all about me eating my words and playing myself, because let me tell you, Resident Evil 4 Remake (or just Resident Evil 4) is a beautiful reimagining of the 2005 masterpiece.

I played the Demo of the newly released game titled Voice of Cards: The Isle Dragon Roars Chapter 0. The Demo is monikered “Chapter 0” and is meant to introduce us to the Voice of Cards trilogy which started in 2021 and ended in 2022, now recently released for the Mobile platform. More specifically, Chapter 0 serves as a prelude to the first game in the series. It is only a short demo and I was pretty done after an hour or so.

Lucid Lenses’ story is deep rooted in astronomy and the study of the cosmos. It features two star-crossed lives turned lovers living seemingly normal lives in somewhat unique circumstances; the man, Reymond, seems to be a smart astrophysicist locked in prison, and the woman, Emily, a university student studying astronomy, is accompanied by her blue bird that she can communicate with.

This is what happens when even a one-handed game like Vampire Survivors is still too much work. We now enter the realm of Idle and AFK games where you don’t even have to do anything to play and progress. Alice, Final Weapon : Idle RPG is another entry in this popular mobile genre.

Mighty DOOM is a top down single handed rogue-lite shooter set in the DOOM universe. It is available for Android and iOS as a free-to-play title with in-app purchases.

Storyteller is a unique drag and drop puzzle game with fascinating novel mechanics and a cute medieval inspired artstyle. You are given multiple empty panels for a given scenario, plus a multitude of settings and characters to place per scenario. It’s up to you to arrange them in a way that will fit the scenario’s objectives. Be it somebody dying, living happily ever after, or getting revenge; you need to satisfy the objective in order to solve the puzzle.

Alice, Final Weapon : Idle RPG , or ALICE is an idle monster killing RPG game with typical anime-style visuals and cel-shaded graphics, where players infinitely kill monsters in a never-ending cycle. There is no in-game story, and the whole focus is the non-stop gameplay.

Slenderman RE: Light Edition is an adventure horror mobile game based on the Slender Man supernatural character. It is played in first person view and plays like an adventure game where you are to interact with the environment in order to progress.

The gameplay of Thunder Samurai Defend Village is simple. Enemies come from both sides, you can either tap on the left to attack left, or tap on the right to attack right. You can activate a special lightning attack when fully charged. No need to move, jump, block, or do some platforming maneuvers. Each enemy dies in a single hit and the game seemingly plays infinitely in a singular level, with high scores being the one and only end goal.

The premise of Slenderman RE: Light Edition is that our main character, the Dave Grohl-looking dude named Edward, is sort of a ghost-hunter. He stumbles upon an abandoned building in the woods and comes across a supernatural experience. With his trusty flashlight, he has to find a way out.

Dead by Daylight Mobile is an asymmetric 4v1 multiplayer survival horror game where a team of four players must cooperate with each other in order to escape a killer hunting them.

Dream Land is a free-to-play construction and management simulation that puts players in charge of a group of travelers stranded on an alien planet.

A spaceship has crash landed on an unknown planet. A group of survivors emerges from the wreckage. There is no way to repair the ship, leaving no choice but to salvage it for parts and set up a makeshift base.

It looks like DOOM is joining the single touch craze these days by releasing their newest title for the mobile platform — Mighty DOOM. A top down action shooter where players control the mini Slayer, battling mini Demons in an arcade style combat with rogue-lite progression and mission structure.

It was later made available for mobile devices in 2020. I tried out the recent revamped mobile version of the game called Dead by Daylight Mobile and had the chance to explore its various features and gameplay.

In a world full of disappointing sequels, reboots, and spiritual successors. We have one of the rarest examples of a franchise that has gotten better in time in HITMAN World of Assassination.

Imagine a deep sea survival game like Subnautica, which is basically an underwater version of The Forest. Remove all the base building, crafting, focus on the shooter aspect, make it darker with lovecraftian elements and you get Death in the Water 2.

HITMAN World of Assassination is a stealth-action sandbox game that puts us in the shoes of the genetically engineered clone named Agent 47, a highly skilled assassin working for an organization called the International Contract Agency. The whole premise is centered around Agent 47 taking different contracts across the globe, setting the stage for the different multinational sandbox levels that acts as our murder playground.

A Space for the Unbound is the story of a boy and a girl — both with supernatural powers — in a slice-of-life turned fantasy romance adventure against a 90’s Indonesian backdrop. NeverAwake is a twin-stick shooter, but it’s also a single-stick shooter. It’s a side-scrolling game, but it’s also a vertical scroller. It’s sleek and flashy, but also gruesome and messy. This duality approach might seem like a genre identity issue for NeverAwake, but really, it is a unique fresh take on the shoot ‘em up genre.

There's a certain cuteness in this game; the playful nature of the children, the slice of life presentation, and the lighthearted puzzling elements. At the same time, Children of Silentown is spooky and creepy; from the Tim Burton-esque art style with big white creepy eyes, to the foreboding nature of the story with nightmares and monsters.

As a kid, I have always been fascinated by trains, well I think most of us were. Beyond that childhood fantasy and riding trains for travel, I never really got interested in trains as a grown up, until now. Fortunately, we now have SimRail - The Railway Simulator as a brand new addition to the list of growing video game train simulators, the caveat: it’s still in Early Access.

What UnderDungeon lacks in color, it makes up for with an aggressive monochromatic stylized 1 bit graphics full of life, energy, and a highly stimulating retro music. UnderDungeon is an adventure game inspired by classic dungeon crawlers; brimming with humor, wit, and charm.

Vengeful Guardian: Moonrider is an authentic recreation of the classic 90s ninja video games like Ninja Gaiden, Shinobi, and Shadow of the Ninja. The 16-bit music, art style, and gameplay are all captured perfectly without a miss. Going in blind, you would think it is a remaster or port of a real existing 90s game.

ONE PIECE ODYSSEY is something special. A rare occurrence; there’s finally a good Anime game that isn’t a hack and slash or a fighting game, as it instead features a fresh JRPG turn-based combat system. A nice change of pace and a solid design decision worthy of our attention.

Rogue AI Simulator is a roguelite management simulation game where you control an AI that will manage an underground science facility. If the AI – the player — acts suspiciously, the administrators will disconnect the server and shut it down.

Kandria is a newly released hack and slash open world adventure game that you might say has rather simple pixel graphics, but fret not, underneath that surface level simplicity is a complex and expansive open world RPG game that will surely captivate you for hours on end.

From the looks of it, you might not think of Glimmer in Mirror as a metroidvania platform shooter. In fact every fiber of my being is telling me that it isn’t, it feels more like a flashy side scrolling hack and slash game, but Glimmer in Mirror is indeed a shooter in a cute anime (chibi) disguise, and that’s refreshing to see.

We have another point-and-click puzzle game ported to the mobile platform yet again with Boxville. I’ve just played the demo and it immediately places you right after the beginning of the game. To avoid spoilers, there is no plot or backstory presented, but the world is inhabited by tin-can like humanoid beings living in cute cardboard boxes resembling into a somewhat peaceful city.

Rocco's Island is an atmospheric point-and-click adventure game with a big focus on puzzles and storytelling. Released last year on PC, Rocco's Island: Ring to End the Pain has been recently ported to mobile platforms as Rocco's Island: Pocket Edition. It is exactly the same game on PC, except for the newly adapted touch controls.

We Are The Caretakers is a mix of Grand Strategy, 4X, JRPG, and Squad Management all packed and blended into what they call an afrofuturist art style. It has recently left Early Access on PC and also released for Xbox Series systems. It will be hard to compare this to a single title entirely as many of its aspects are such a fresh crossover of elements from many different games and genres.

When I played the original Hello Neighbor back in 2018, It was an intriguing family friendly puzzle stealth horror that was as frustrating as it exhilarating. Hello Neighbor 2 largely maintains the same formula, improving many mechanics from the first game but at the same time never really getting rid of the frustration factor.

Dodge ‘em up is a genre entirely new to me, and so far I like the concept. Swordship is one such game, it takes the notion of shoot ‘em up but removes the shooting part and makes the fundamental gameplay all about the art of dodging and deception.

From the makers of the amazing Warhammer: Vermintide series comes another game, now set 40,000 years into the future: Warhammer 40,000: Darktide. This only means stuff like Guns and Chainswords are now available in your arsenal. The gameplay style that started with Left 4 Dead, the first person melee combat perfected by Vermintide, is now circling back to using guns again with Darktide.

There is no better title for this game other than the name itself “Retro Gadgets”. A sandbox game that is all about designing, theory crafting, tinkering, and building retro style electronic contraptions.

At a glance, the gameplay and graphics of Soccer Story looks like a mashup of Pokemon and Stardew Valley with a nice touch of clean 3D graphics, but the comparisons end there, as within Soccer Story is a fun semi-physics driven gameplay that has a very healthy obsession with soccer.

Somerville is a sci-fi adventure / puzzle game where you control a man and his family caught up right in the middle of an alien invasion doomsday scenario. The opening sequence starts relatively slow: what's presented to you is a slice of life in a small farm house: A couple, a toddler, and a dog. The presentation feels very surreal that you almost can relate to it, especially with the random static noise emanating from the family TV. Then the mysterious somber nature ramps up rather quickly into a full blown alien invasion, perfectly capturing that feeling of being randomly caught up in it on a personal level. You can just about see yourself in the character’s shoes while playing. Imagining if such things happened to you and your family instead.

The opening sequence starts relatively slow and gets intense pretty much immediately, perfectly capturing that feeling of being randomly caught up in a sudden alien invasion. There is no dialogue in the game and all of the story is only conveyed through the characters' actions and interactions with the environment, bolstered by the impressive art style and sound design. This is something that is very hard to pull off narratively but Somerville manages to somewhat pull it off anyway.

With how popular rogue-lite games are becoming lately, as well as the consistent popularity of the Ancient Rome setting throughout the years, I’m a bit surprised that we don’t have enough Gladiator style focused games already. Saturating the market like the zombie or world war tropes we have today. That soon is about to change, as we now have We Who Are About to Die, recently released on Early Access.
